The Free tier reports which data classes a breach is known to contain (e.g., "this breach exposed emails and passwords"). Basic and Professional tiers go deeper: they report which data classes were present for each individual record. The Validated tier goes furthest — it confirms record-level data classes by cross-referencing against the actual breach source data. This is the difference between knowing a breach contained SSNs and confirming that a specific person's SSN was in that breach.
The Validated tier searches across all imported PII fields — email, name, phone number, address, and SSN. Some fields like date of birth are imported but used for validation purposes only (confirming identity matches), not as search keys for finding breach records.
